Corruption: Over 3 Billion Naira Looted Funds Uncovered In Senior Civil Servants Bank Accounts

In line with its mandate to recover looted public property, the Special Presidential Investigation Panel on Recovery of Public Property, SPIP, set up by the President Muhammadu Buhari administration, has uncovered over N3 billion in several accounts belonging to two senior civil servants in the oil sector. The civil servants, Goody Nnadi, General Manager, Corporate Services, and Aisha Usman, General Manager, Operations, both with the Petroleum Equalization Fund PEF, after investigation by the panel,were alleged to have a total of over 3billion naira combined, in their bank accounts. Updating the media on the findings of its investigation, chairman of the panel, Okoi Obono-Obla, revealed that findings following the petition received against Nnadi shows that the total inflow of monies into his accounts from 2011 to date amount to N2.2 billion, $302,964, €11,000 and £2,000. In the case of Aisha Usman, Obono-Obla said monies running into billions of naira was also discovered in her accounts. The chairman further added that while it is the duty of the panel to recover funds, monies are not given to the panel directly but rather deposited by the ministry of finance into an account domiciled in the Central Bank of Nigeria.
