Coalition Faults FG On Rivers Emergency Rule, Insists Fubara Was Erroneously Implicated.
A coalition of Human Rights monitoring groups have refuted claims linking the suspended Governor of Rivers State, Sim Fubara to militant groups responsible for the recent spate of pipeline vandalism and security breaches in Rivers state.
Addressing a news conference in Abuja, Spokesperson of the coalition, John Ogiri said the allegation is a fabrication designed to tarnish Governor Fubara’s reputation.
He said findings from a comprehensive investigation by the coalition exonerates the Governor of any misgivings and links to violence.
The Coalition however condemned the minister of the federal capital territory, Nyesom Wike for exacerbated tensions, urging him to support efforts that will entrench peace and meaningful development in the state.
The Group further described the declaration of the state of emergency in Rivers State by President Tinubu as too hasty, saying the action projects negative tendencies on the decades of democratic progress that has been achieved over the years.
They called for more political will to resolve the political crisis as well as restore democratic governance in the oil rich state
