Child Mortality: Nigerian Government To Conduct Survey.
Nigeria in the past few years has experienced a worsening child mortality rate. This is as new born mortality figure in the country is attributed at 29 deaths per 1000 births. The figure may have further informed a global estimate which rank Nigeria as the 11th highest on new born deaths. Despite the interventions of government and its partners, challenges like Access, distance and inadequate primary health care centres among others still persists across the country. This development no doubt may have informed the plan by the National Population Commission to conduct the 2019 Verbal and Social Autopsy (VASA) Survey to generate reliable data for formulation of policies to reduce Neonatal and Child Mortality to the barest minimum.
