Catholic Bishops Call For Emergency Rule In Benue Over Killings.

311

Charismatic Bishops Conference of Nigeria has called on President Bola Tinubu to declare a state of emergency in the Benue state over rising security concerns and related challenges.

President General of the Conference, Bishop Leonard Kawas made the call at a World press conference in Abuja.

He condemned the persistent attacks on innocent citizens, particularly in the Middle Belt region, and urged the government to take immediate action to address the crisis.

Obviously aligning themselves with the Catholic Bishop of Makurdi, Wifred Anagbe who recently faced backlash for speaking out against the atrocities committed against defenseless communities, the clerics raised concerns over the impact of the crisis on the North Central state.

They called on the international community and civil society organizations to join in condemning the violence and advocating for the safety and rights of the people of Benue State.
