Nigeria Medium and Large Scale Printers League says billion naira of naira worth of equipment was lost in the recent demolition of UTC, Area 10, the second largest printing hub in the country by the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA.
Leadership of the league who made the call in the nation’s capital Abuja at a meeting aimed at mobilising financial relief for the affected members said the FCT authority went ahead with the dastardly act despite the case still in court.
Calling on the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led administration to immediate intervene, the institute said its members through voluntary contribution are working towards raising from thirty million naira and above for the victims.
One of the founding fathers and the owner of a leading private printing press in Nigeria, Alhaji Yahaya Amfani attributed some of the challenges faced to disunity among members of the institute. He however, assured of his support to ensure that the anomalies are corrected.
It would be recalled that the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA said the demolition of the 30 year old UTC complex in Abuja was to give way for a remodeled and better structure befitting the status of the Nigeria’s capital city.
