The Executive Director, Nigerian Army Farms and Ranches Limited, Major General Sinyinah Nicodemus, has identified critical thinking as a non-negotiable requirement for effective leadership and informed decision-making within the military.
Addressing participants of the Leadership and Strategic Studies Course (LSSC) 4/25, General Nicodemus underscored the role of analytical reasoning in managing vital resources.
In a statement signed by the acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations Captain, Christopher Agu and made available to Channel Network Afrique, CNA News, the Director emphasized the importance of critical thinking.
“You must engage in critical thinking to make informed decisions,” Nicodemus stated, emphasizing that these skills are fundamental to the modern military professional.
Bridging Theory and Practice
The visit, part of a nationwide study tour organized by the Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC), was led by Major General EG Ode (Rtd). According to General Ode, the primary objective was to provide the participants with practical insights that bridge the gap between academic theory and the realities of strategy and national security.
“The goal is to provide participants with insights into bridging the gap between theory and practice in strategy, military leadership, and national security,” Ode noted, urging the course members to apply the day’s lessons to their future assignments.
Strategic Insights at NAFARL
Welcoming the delegation to the NAFARL Headquarters in Giri-Abuja, General Nicodemus expressed confidence that the visit—themed “Critical Thinking Skills and Abilities: Essential for Modern Military Decision-Making”—would provide significant value to the participants’ ongoing research and contributions to national security.
During the session, the LSSC 4/25 participants received comprehensive briefings on the operational activities of the farms and ranches, including current challenges and milestones achieved in agricultural resource management.
Operational Overview
The visit was coordinated by Brigadier General JO Majebi and attended by senior directors and directing staff. The itinerary included:
Technical Briefings: Detailed presentations on NAFARL’s role in army logistics.
Interactive Session: An open forum for participants to engage with NAFARL leadership.
Guided Tour: A first-hand look at the farm’s facilities and production methods.
The event concluded with the exchange of souvenirs and a group photograph to mark the strategic engagement between the Resource Centre and the Army’s agricultural wing.
