APC Slams ADC Over ‘Baseless’ Claims of Coerced Registration
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially dismissed claims made by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) alleging that civil servants are being coerced into joining the ruling party through its ongoing electronic registration exercise.
In a press statement released Monday, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka, CON, described the allegations as “false and baseless,” characterizing them as a strategic attempt to discredit the party’s transition to a digital membership register.
The APC leadership attributed the ADC’s claims to “intimidation” regarding the scale of the registration drive. According to Morka, the surge in registration is a voluntary response from citizens to the “Renewed Hope Agenda,” rather than a result of administrative pressure.
“The ADC is intimidated by the phenomenal success of our Party’s E-Registration exercise,” Morka stated. He further linked the current allegations to a broader “disinformation campaign,” citing a previous incident involving a forged membership slip.
Due to what the party describes as high public demand and a “massive” influx of new members, the APC has announced an extension of the registration deadline. Originally scheduled to conclude on January 31, the exercise will now remain open until February 8, 2026.
The statement concluded by reaffirming the APC’s commitment to its digital innovation goals, positioning the party as a leader in “democratic innovation” despite the ongoing political friction with the opposition.
