World-renowned boxer Anthony Joshua has survived a ghastly motor accident that claimed two persons in Ogun state along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The former heavyweight boxer who was in a lexus jeep sustained minor injuries when the vehicle crashed into a stationary truck.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the fatal incident occurred at approximately 12:00 PM in the Sinoma area, near Sagamu, Ogun State.

According to a statement released by Assistant Corps Marshal Olusegun Ogungbemide, FRSC operatives arrived at the scene within three minutes of receiving the report.

The collision involved two vehicles: a black Lexus Jeep (Registration: KRD 850 HN) and a stationary red commercial Sinotruck. Five adult males were in the Lexus at the time of the crash.

Two passengers were confirmed dead at the scene, while two others, including Joshua, survived with injuries. One person escaped the accident unhurt.

The deceased were transported to the Livewell Morgue in Ajaka, Sagamu, while the injured were evacuated for medical treatment.

Preliminary investigations by the Ogun Sector Command suggest the Lexus was traveling above the legally prescribed speed limit.

The driver reportedly lost control during an overtaking maneuver, leading the vehicle to ram into the truck, which was parked off the side of the road.

“The primary causes of the crash being excessive speed and wrongful overtaking constitute serious traffic violations,” the statement read.

FRSC Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and wished Joshua a speedy recovery.

He further cautioned motorists against dangerous driving habits, particularly during the high-volume festive travel period.

The Nigeria Police Motor Traffic Division (MTD) has been notified and is conducting further investigations into the crash.
