Anambra Guber: INEC Warns Against Vote Buying As Police Deploy 45,000 Personnel.
The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan, has warned against any attempt to induce voters before or during the November 8 Anambra Governorship Election.
Speaking at the first consultative meeting with members of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES), Prof. Amupitan urged political actors to join hands in combating the menace of vote buying as part of efforts to restore the integrity of the electoral process.
He disclosed that the Commission is working closely with relevant law enforcement and anti-graft agencies to prevent vote buyers from contaminating the process.

In his remarks, the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, represented by Hassan Abdullahi, assured that robust security measures have been put in place, including enhanced surveillance, deployment of adequate security personnel, and improved intelligence gathering to prevent any attempt by disruptive elements to undermine the electoral process.

Over 20,000 INEC staff are expected to be deployed for the conduct of the November 8 governorship election, which will take place in 5,718 of the 5,720 polling units across the state.
