Anambra Guber: INEC Fixes November 9 For Supplementary Poll.
Collation of results of the November 6 Governorship election in Anambra state has been sUspended by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC pending the conduct of the election in Ihiala Local Government Area.
INEC Presiding officer for the Governorship election, Prof. Florence Obi,made that announcement in Awka.
Citing security reason for inability of the election to hold in the affected local government council, Prof Obi indicated that it has be rescheduled for Tuesday, Nov 9.
”As the Electoral Officer, I hereby announce the suspension of result until elections are held in all the polling units in Ihiala.
”Supplementary election will take place in the area on Nov. 9,” she disclosed.
However results so far released by INEC indicates that Prof. Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) polled a total of 103, 946 votes followed by Mr Valentine Ozigbo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 51,322 votes to emerged second with Sen. Andy Uba,of the All Progressives Congress (APC) trailing with 42,942 votes.
Soludo won in 18 out of the 20 Local Government Areas of the State already declared,while the PDP and YPP candidates won 1 local government council each.
The election had recorded 237,362 total number of vote cast,with 229,521 and 7,841 valid and void votes respectively.
The final result is expected to be announced by INEC after the rescheduled election in Ihiala.
