As part of effort to support the nation’s education system, especially in crisis prone locations resulting in school dropouts and other related challenges, the United Nations Education Fund is implementing a five year Education Management Information System EMIS in three pilot states of Borno, Adamawa and Yobe.

The programme as developed by the Viable Knowledge Masters is a software initiative where education related data especially at the basic sub sector are stored and effectively managed. At a 3 day workshop for participants from the 3 states in Abuja, UNICEF Education Officer, Godwin Ilukhor said the program is designed to build their capacity on the EMIS concept for further step down trainings.

For managers of the project, Viable Knowledge Masters, the overall goal of the initiative is to Improve learning outcomes and also support equitable and inclusive education in the pilot states.

Some of the participants took turns to speak on their expectations from the workshop. There are indications that other states in the country may be captured in the next phases of the project implementation .
