Tuggar To Lead High-level Delegation To UK

Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, will lead a high-level delegation for a working visit to the United Kingdom as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen diplomatic ties and enhance strategic cooperation across key sectors.

According to a statement signed by the acting Spokesperson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa and made available to Channel Network Afrique, CNA, Minister’s visit will deepen Nigeria-UK relations across multiple sectors, including trade, investment, technology, media, and academia.

The visit reflects Nigeria’s commitment to engaging global partners to drive economic growth, innovation, and sustainable development. During the visit, Ambassador Tuggar will:

  • Deliver a speech and participate in a discussion at Chatham House on Nigeria’s evolving foreign policy and global aspirations.
  • Attend a high-level roundtable on technology and trade at the House of Commons, where discussions will focus on Nigeria’s economic diversification, investment climate, and digital transformation.
  • Engage with key media stakeholders at the BBC House in London, highlighting Nigeria’s foreign policy priorities and its global positioning.
  • Hold meetings with JP Morgan and British International Investment (BII) to explore financial and economic cooperation, including attracting capital flows, promoting investment opportunities, and strengthening Nigeria’s financial sector.

Key Bilateral Meetings and Strategic Engagements
As part of his itinerary, the Honourable Minister will hold bilateral discussions with senior UK government officials, including representatives from the FCDO and other key institutions.

The discussions will focus on:

  • Enhancing cooperation on security and intelligence-sharing to counter extremism and
    instability in West Africa.
  • Expanding business and investment opportunities to support Nigeria’s economic growth and job creation.
  • Strengthening collaboration in education, research, and technology between Nigerian and UK academic institutions.

In further recognition of Nigeria’s commitment to knowledge exchange, academic partnerships, and capacity building, Ambassador Tuggar will also engage with the African Centre and the University of Cambridge.

This visit marks a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s foreign policy under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership, reinforcing his administration’s economic diplomacy, strategic partnerships, and regional security cooperation agenda.
