As part of efforts to rid the nation’s economy of substandard products especially the use of second-hand tyres popularly known as “Tokunbo” or “Belgium tyres”, the Standard Organisation of Nigeria is advocating for a long jail term for dealers without option of fine.
The Director General, SON, Mallam Farouk Salim disclosed this in an exclusive interview with Channel Network Afrique, CNA, in Abuja.
He said Nigerians own the responsibility to report dealers of the substandard to the appropriate authority.
The SON, Director General, however, promised not to relent in his efforts in ensuring that Nigeria is placed among the comity of nations in terms of standardisation.
