Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen, has called on the public, to support the federal government, in its fight against disabilities gender-based violence in the country.
Tallen gave the indication in Abuja at the occasion of the Inclusive Friends Association (IFA) Award of Excellence of sixty-six young advocate with disabilities trained across the geopolitical zones in Nigeria.
She said efforts to change the narrative requires the cooperation of all stakeholders. Earlier, the IFA Executive Director, Grace Jerry in her remarks highlighted the negative effect of discrimination, stigma and stereotypes to the campaign especially in discouraging survivors from seeking justice.
The awardees were selected from the six geo political zones.
The rationale for the award initiative according to the organisers is to combat gender based violence perpetrated against persons with disabilities through dogged and strategic Advocacy.
