As part of efforts to nip abuse of consumer rights by service providers, the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has commenced enlightenment campaigns by educating major stakeholders as encapsulated in its Act.
Speaking at a one day engagement with Consumer Protection Groups, the Executive Vice Chairman, FCCPC, Babatunde Irukera said there was need to improve consumer awareness in order to avoiding being short-changed.
Represented by the Director, Department of Planning, Research and Strategy, Aliyu Mohammed, the EVC said the campaign would be sustained until it gets to the grassroots.
The Executive Commissioner, Operations, Adamu Abdullahi represented by the Director, Consumer Education, Joy Lekwauwa could not agree less with the EVC as she highlighted the benefit of the programme to the nation’s economy.
Some stakeholders spoke on the importance of the engagement exercise.
