It was all fanfare and joy as staff of the National Universities Commission (NUC) troupe out in their numbers to an arousing welcome of the new Executive Secretary,Prof Abdullahi Ribadu.
Prof Ribadu who before now served at various times as visiting professor at the NUC was on 6th December appointed as the 9th Executive Secretary of the commission.
In his remarks at the well- attended handing over ceremony held at the NUC headquarters in Abuja, Prof Ribadu promised to work closely with the management team to develop a comprehensive strategy for the commission and the nations university system.
He assured of plans to revisit the NUC laws and other interventions aimed at repositioning the commission inline with its regulatory responsibilities.
Earlier, the former acting Executive, Chris Maiyaki congratulated Prof Ribadu on his well deserved appointment and assured him of support in steering the affairs of the commission.
Other speakers including the former minister of women Affairs, Pauline Tallen in their goodwill messages solicited the support of both staff and management of the commission for the new NUC boss.
The ceremony was attended by top government officials, key Stakeholders in the education sector including family and friends of Prof Ribadu.
