The Presidential Elections Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abuja, has began hearing in the case involving the Peoples Democratic Party and its Candidate Atiku Abubakar, challenging the announcement and subsequent inauguration of president Muhammadu Buhari, as winner of the February 23 presidential election. Presiding judge and chairman of the panel of judges, Justice Mohammed Garba, okayed the commencement of the trial at the resumed hearing based on the tribunal’s previous ruling. Counsel to PDP and Abubakar, Levi Uzoukwu however began with the presentation of election result sheets, Form EC8 A, B and C for the 25 local governments in Niger state. Expectedly, counsels to both Buhari and the All Progressives Congress, APC, objected to the admissibility of the evidence, but will be giving reasons for their objections while delivering their final addresses in line with the agreement met by all parties in the pre-hearing report. The tribunal however admitted the result sheets into evidence respectively, with Kebbi and Yobe state to follow.
