The Executive Secretary, Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission, NCPC, Rev. Yakubu Pam says the choice of Jordan for this year’s pilgrimage was informed by Israel’s insistence on Nigeria to accept her version of the covid 19 vaccination; and the war in Gaza.
He said the purpose of pilgrimage is to invoke the spirit of God upon the land and the people and not a tourist attraction.
In a signed statement by the Media aid to the NCPC Executive Secretary(ES), Pam Ayuba, the NCPC boss lauded the efforts of the Plateau state Governor, Simon Lalong on direct flight to Jordan
and for mustering the political will to see that pilgrims to the Holy land are airlifted from the Jos airport.
He said the airlift of Christian Pilgrims from Jos to Jordan was to reduce the hardship being faced by contingents from Jos who had to travel under severe risks to Abuja.
Rev Pam also noted that traveling from far distance to Abuja expose pilgrims to dangers of insecurity and other health related issues.
He further assured that they will do everything possible to ensure the direct airlift is sustained onward.
He however added that the Commission is not relenting in ensuring an abscondment free pilgrimage for the first time in Jordan.
