The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunke Nafiu has promised to deploy Corps Members to the NDLEA Counselling and Rehabilitation centers across the country.
General Nafiu gave the indication when he paid a courtesy visit to the NDLEA Director General,General Buba Marwa rtd in Abuja.
A statement by Caroline Embu, Acting Director Information and Public Relations issued in Abuja indicates that General Marwa during the visit requested that the Scheme deploy Corps Members with relevant qualifications to the Agency’s Counselling and Rehabilitation Centres nationwide.
The NDLEA boss noted that such centres are already in existence in 30 States with plans to establish 7 more, in a bid to ensure that the 36 States and the FCT had one each.
He called for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two agencies which would streamline their areas of cooperation.
Speaking earlier, Nafiu paid glowing tributes to the towering achievements that stood as footprints of Marwa’s time as Lagos State Governor and his achievements at the NDLEA among others.
General Nafiu who indicated reasons why the scheme cannot act on call by the NDLEA Chairman for certified drug integrity tests for prospective Corps Members,said it is a policy matter, as its enabling Act did not provide for such action.
He however assured that it would be implemented if it becomes a policy of the Government.
