NUC Issues provisional licenses to 37 new Private Universities.

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has presented provisional licenses to 37 newly approved private universities in Nigeria.

The Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Education ,David Adejoh who presented the liecenses at the ceremony held in Abuja said the approval brought the number of private universities in Nigeria to 147 universities.

Adejoh said the government will continue to create the right atmosphere for establishment of more universities even as he assured that quality would not be compromised.

The Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission NUC, Prof Abubakar Rasheed in his remarks congratulated the proprietors of the universities for the feat while insisting that the existing universities are not enough to meet the present demand for higher education in the country.

Meanwhile, the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress APC Senator Abdullahi Adamu who spoke on behalf of the proprietors of the new universities indicated the place of education to the economic development of the nation.
