The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted license to Enugu State Government recognising the establishment of the State University of Medical and Applied Sciences.
The license was issued to Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, at NUC headquarters in Abuja, Presenting the license, academic brief and master plan of the University, the Executive Secretary of NUC, Prof. Abubakar Adamu Rasheed, congratulated Gov. Ugwuanyi and the people of the state.
Prof Rasheed said the institution will create additional access for students seeking admission to study medicine and other science related discipline. In his remarks, Gov Ugwuanyi said the idea for establishment of the University was born out of the need to fulfill the dream of must students who were left shattered when not giving opportunity despite being qualified.
The approval of the Enugu State Medical and Applied Sciences University, brings the number of state owned ivory towers to 59 and overall total Universities in Nigeria to 219.
