NSCDC Targets ‘Black Spots’ In Massive FCT Festive Deployment

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has announced the deployment of 4,000 personnel to secure the nation’s capital ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

The FCT Commandant, Olusola Odumosu, issued the order mandating a heavy security presence across the territory to protect lives, property, and Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI).

According to a statement signed by the acting spokespers FCT Command, DSC Monica Ojobi indicates that the
deployment draws from a wide array of specialized tactical units to ensure a multi-layered security approach. Key units mobilized include the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) and Crack Squad for rapid response.

The Female Strike Force and Arms Squad for specialized patrols.
CBRNE Units, trained to handle Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive threats.
Agro Rangers and CNAI protection officers to secure rural areas and infrastructure.

Recognizing that festive periods often see a spike in crowds, Commandant Odumosu directed massive deployment to “soft targets” such as:
Religious Centers: Churches and prayer grounds.

Furthermore, the Command has identified “black spots”—specifically uncompleted buildings known to harbor criminal elements—for targeted surveillance and clearance operations to prevent security breaches.

Undercover and Synergy Operations
Beyond visible patrols, the NSCDC has activated its Undercover Unit for covert intelligence gathering. Dr. Odumosu gave “marching orders” to all Area Commanders and Divisional Officers to ensure they are “on top of their game” within their respective jurisdictions.

”All hands must be on deck. I will not tolerate any form of breaches,” the Commandant stated, emphasizing that personnel must work in close synergy with other sister security agencies.

In a stern address to his officers, the FCT helmsman cautioned against the abuse of power. Personnel were ordered to adhere strictly to the Rules of Engagement, with a specific warning against, harassment or intimidation of civilians.

While wishing FCT residents a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year, the Commandant reminded the public that security is a shared responsibility. He urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious individuals or groups to the nearest security agency.

”My personnel are ready to ensure a peaceful celebration,” Dr. Odumosu said. “You have a part to play too by being proactive and ready to cooperate with law enforcement for our collective good.”

The Command concluded by warning vandals to stay away from public infrastructure, noting that patrol teams are on high alert to arrest and prosecute offenders.
