The need to change the narrative in the present state of insecurity in Northern Nigeria prompted this one day interface convened by the Northern Traditional rulers to chart the way forward.
The insecurity in northern Nigeria which has touched every nook and cranny in the geopolitical zone is characterised by herder-farmer criminality, cattle rustling, kidnapping, armed robbery, pillage, forced displacement, abductions and sexual violence among others.
The development which had lingered on for years have recorded severe consequences which this conference attended by key stakeholders in the nation’s security architecture seeks to proffer solution.
In his welcome remarks, convener of the conference and Chairman of the Northern Traditional rulers forum, the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar said enough of the lament as all efforts should be extended towards returning peace and safety of lives and properties on the region.
On his part, Governor of Plateau State and Chairman Northern Governor’s Forum Simon Lalong described the initiative as apt promising to take resolutions arrived at to the committee of Northern Governor’s for necessary action.
Lalong further assured that the Governor’s will continue to collaborate with the traditional institutions until lasting solutions to the alarming trend of insecurity in the region is attained.
