The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their long-standing collaboration aimed at enhancing national security, identity management, and efficient service delivery to Nigerians.
The renewed commitment came during a courtesy visit by the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nana Nandap, to the Director General/Chief Executive Officer of NIMC, Engr. (Dr) Abisoye Coker-Odusote, in Abuja on Wednesday. Nandap was accompanied by members of her management team.
According to a statement by Ayodele Babalola, Technical Advisor, Media & Communications to the NIMC DG/CEO, the meeting provided an opportunity for both agencies to reiterate the importance of deepened cooperation in securing the nation’s identity infrastructure and improving operational synergy.
In her remarks, Nandap emphasized the strategic role of collaboration between NIS and NIMC, particularly in strengthening border security, enhancing identity verification systems, and supporting national development goals. She stated that an effective partnership between the two institutions is essential for sustaining a secure and efficient national identity ecosystem.
In her response, Coker-Odusote welcomed the delegation and restated NIMC’s readiness to broaden the scope of collaboration with NIS. She highlighted the need for continuous cooperation to improve data integrity, streamline operational processes, and fortify Nigeria’s border management through a robust identity framework.
Both agencies expressed a shared commitment to intensify joint efforts aimed at advancing policies and initiatives that enhance security, efficiency, and innovation within Nigeria’s identity and border management systems.
