Over 40 trillion naira has so far been spent by the Federal Government on Government Owned Enterprises (GOEs). Director General, Budget Office of the Federation, Ben Akabueze, who disclosed this during a presentation to Chief Executive Officers of Government Owned Enterprises in Nigeria’s capital city, Abuja said despite huge government investments in the agencies over the years, the remittances to the Treasury is mostly insignificant. He said government recorded a shortfall in its Independent Revenue to the tune of over 545 billion naira as it projected 847 billion only for N302.66 billion to be realised.
