The National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA) says it has concluded arrangements for commencement of the Astrazeneca vaccination from 25th August to 5th September 2021. This is as the Agency further confirmed deployment of Moderna vaccine to 29 states across the country. NPHCDA Executive Director Dr Faisal Shuaib made the revelation at a media briefing in Abuja on progress of phase 2 COVID-19 Vaccination in Nigeria. Shuaib who explained reasons for the late deployment of the Vaccines even after certification by NAFDAC indicated that unlike the Astrazeneca, Moderna vaccines did not come with barcoding. He further stated how the hard to reach areas in various states were mapped out through the use of Geographical Information System (GIS) to aide deployment of the Johnson to Johnson vaccine. The NPHCDA boss however advised Nigerians to take advantage of the various categories of the vaccination administration windows. The agency further stressed on need for Nigerians to continue to observe the non-pharmaceutical measures of wearing of facemask, observing hand hygiene, physical distancing avoiding crowd and unnecessary travels until the country achieves herd immunity.
