The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami says Nigeria has the capacity to produce a minimum of 200 million SIM cards annually. Pantami who disclosed this while giving account of his stewardship in a media chat with the App Progressive Congress Professional forum in Abuja said a sim card manufacturing plant has been established in Lagos. He said the intervention which brings to an end era of sim card Importation will serve both the Nigerian and African market. The Minister while also highlighting other gains recorded in the sector said over 22.4 billion naira has been saved in the federal government coffers through the implementation of the information technology project clearance Policy Pantami further applauded the Buhari led government support to the private sector in the ICT industry, a feat he noted has enhanced digital capacities among Nigerians.
