The Former Jigawa State governor and a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sule Lamido, has warned that Nigeria may collapse if PDP fails to win the 2023 presidential elections.
Lamido raised the alarm when he led a delegation of former PDP governors and other party stakeholders to show solidarity with the party’s National Working Committee led by former Senate President, Iyorchia Ayu, in Abuja.
The former governor cautioned members of the party against acrimonious relationship, saying the main opposition party’s fortune in 2023 and beyond lies in its effort to manage issues of differences. Responding, PDP national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu implored the former governors to work together to ensure the election of PDP governors in their various states especially where the PDP is not in power.
He affirmed that the party is open to welcome back its former governors that have defected to other parties. On the Electoral Act Amendment Bill, Ayu urged the President Muhammadu Buhari to quickly assent it and prevent future election manipulation in the country.
