The new Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede has promised to build on the existing security strategies for the overall good of the nation.
He disclosed while delivering his acceptance speech shortly after taking over command from his predecessor, General Christopher Musa at the Defences Headquarters in Abuja.
General Oluyede who thank President Bola Tinubu for finding him worthy to serve in the highest position of the military architecture, commended General Musa for the solid foundation laid to ensure improved security in the country.
Earlier, the immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa spoke on gains recorded during his time.
He however, promised to be available to work for his fatherland whenever the need arises for his advice and inputs.
Highpoint of the ceremony is the signing of handing and taking over notes, decoration of the new CDS with the DHQ insignia, armed forces medal as well as lowering and handing over of the DHQ flag to the immediate past CDS among other formalities.
