NEPC To Promote Nigerian Designers” Products, Fashion Accessories

The Nigerian Export Promotion Council, NEPC, has promised to connect producers of Nigerian fashion value chain to both local and international market. The NEPC Executive Director, Ezra Yakusak made the promise in Abuja at the official launch of an Africa e-commerce platform.

He said the platform would be use to promote African designers” products and fashion accessories such as shoes, bags, jewelries, fabrics, gemstones, cotton, lifestyle products among others.

He however, advised stakeholders in the sector to get their products to the market most especially the International market to enhance economic development.

Also speaking, the Executive Secretary, National Institute for Cultural Orientation, NICO, Ado Yahuza called for the resuscitation of the country’s textile industry towards realizing the objectives of the project. Represented by the Director of Orientation and Cultural Affairs, Alex Omijie, the NICO boss stressed need for Nigerians to reduce the patronage of foreign products.

On his part, the Chief Executive Officer, Agogo Africa, Lexy Mojo-Eyes called for more Government’s support to enable local fashion designers to compete favourably with their international counterparts.

High point of the event was the tour of exhibition of locally produced fabrics and accessories by the NEPC Executive Director, Ezra Yakusak and some stakeholders.
