The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced the final reopening of its student verification portal for a 48-hour period, allowing tertiary institutions that have not yet completed the verification process to do so.
This development follows the recent closure of the portal and is aimed at ensuring that all eligible students are accurately verified as part of the ongoing 2024/2025 NELFUND loan application process.
In a statement issued in Abuja, Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, Director of Strategic Communications at NELFUND, disclosed that the portal will be accessible from 12:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 12, 2025, to 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
“This extension is intended to give defaulting institutions a final opportunity to verify their students. Failure to comply will result in exclusion from the current loan cycle,” the statement read.
NELFUND stressed that institutions failing to complete the verification exercise within the stipulated timeframe will forfeit participation, which would ultimately disadvantage their students the intended beneficiaries of the loan scheme.
“In the interest of transparency and accountability, the list of defaulting institutions will be published alongside this press release,”she added.
The Fund reaffirmed its commitment to equitable access to higher education, emphasizing the importance of efficient, transparent, and inclusive management of the Nigerian Education Loan Scheme.
