NDLEA halts Cross-Border Drug Cartel, Stops Angolans, Convicted Kingpin Running Cocaine Ring From Lagos Jail

In a series of high-stakes operations across Nigeria’s international airports and urban hubs, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted multiple drug trafficking attempts, including a brazen export scheme coordinated by a convicted kingpin from behind prison walls.
Airport Interceptions: 236 Cocaine Wraps Recovered
Between February 4 and February 12, 2026, NDLEA operatives at the Abuja and Kano international airports arrested three suspects who had ingested a total of 236 wraps of cocaine.
Abuja: Ibeanu Vincent Chukwudulue, a 34-year-old China-based businessman, was deboarded from a Qatar Airways flight on February 4. A body scan confirmed drug ingestion, and he subsequently excreted 52 pellets weighing approximately 736 grams.
Kano: Two Angolan nationals, Mbandu Martins Makiadi (50) and Ngoma Wilson Fernando (52), were intercepted while attempting to board a flight to Turkey. Mbandu excreted 76 wraps (920g), while Ngoma expelled 108 pellets (1.33kg). The duo claimed they were recruited in Luanda with a promised payment of $3,000 each upon delivery.
Convicted Kingpin Directs Export from Lagos Jail
The agency also thwarted an attempt by Olashupo Michael Oladimeji, a drug kingpin currently serving a five-year sentence at Ikoyi Correctional Centre, to export 1.10kg of cocaine to London.
Oladimeji, the CEO of Dimeji Express Logistics, allegedly used his company to coordinate the shipment of cocaine concealed within sacks of processed cassava granules (Garri). NDLEA officers at the Lagos airport intercepted the consignment on February 12, leading to the arrest of his employee, Adedeji Yusuf Gbolahan.
Production Factory and Distribution Hubs Raided
The NDLEA’s offensive extended into residential and commercial areas, uncovering sophisticated production and concealment methods:
Lekki “Colos” Factory: On February 13, operatives raided a four-bedroom duplex in Ikate-Elegushi, Lekki, which served as a laboratory for Colorado (synthetic cannabis). The raid followed the seizure of 73 cartons of nitrous oxide in Ajah. One suspect, Victor Oyedeji, was arrested with 13.2kg of the drug and precursor chemicals.
Toy Guitar Concealment: In Abuja, a waybill package from Enugu was found to contain Canadian Loud hidden inside a children’s toy guitar. The owner, Henry Onuma, was arrested at a Life Camp estate.
Ibadan Kingpin: A female dealer, Oluwayemisi Bunmi (45), was apprehended in Oyo State with over 1.5kg of various narcotics, nearly ₦3 million in cash, and two vehicles.
Kwara & Edo Seizures: 105,400 pills of Tramadol were seized from a vehicle in Kwara State, while a forest raid in Edo State resulted in the arrest of five suspects and the recovery of 563.5kg of skunk.
Continued “War Against Drug Abuse”
Alongside enforcement, the Agency maintained its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitization campaign, holding lectures at schools in Oyo, Adamawa, Nasarawa, Katsina, and Lagos states.
Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), Chairman/CEO of the NDLEA, commended the officers for their professionalism and urged them to maintain a “balanced approach” in reducing both the supply and demand of illicit substances across the country.
