The Nigerian Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS) has hinted on plans to democratise the participation of micro, small and medium-scale players in the agro-export activities.
The Controller General of NAQS Dr Vincent Isegbe, who disclosed this at the 4th CG’s Summit and Management retreat, in Abuja, he said the Service and its stakeholders are exploring collaboration for the advancement of Nigeria’s competitiveness in agricultural trade.
In the future, Dr Osegbe said the service will adopt a more agile approach to making agricultural export inclusive through providing customized farm-to-port technical support and incentives to first-time and rural-based exporters including women and youths.
Also, the representative of the Standard Organization of Nigeria, Chioma Chudi and other stakeholders emphasized the need for standard compliance by the Service and non state actors
The theme of the retreat is ” Leveraging sanitary and phytosanitary adaptability to expand Continental and Global frontiers “
