Minister Tasks Agencies To Adopt PPP, Create Jobs for Unemployed Nigerians

The Federal Government has called on agencies to enter into Public Private Partnership (PPP) to create jobs to address unemployment in the country.

Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mariam Katagum made the call during the Industrial Training Fund, Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association Technical Skills Development Project stakeholders’ dialogue forum and outstanding trainees award ceremony in Abuja.

She said Public Private Partnership will also reduce poverty as well as provide foundation for more robust and inclusive economic growth.

The Director General, Industrial Training Fund, Joseph Ari and the Director General, Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association, Adewale-Smatt Oyerinde, could not agree less with the Minister.

They identified serious skills gap in many sectors of the economy which lead to underemployment, unemployment and poverty.

Some stakeholders also spoke on the importance of the partnership between the ITF and NECA.
