LP Reaffirms National Officers, Strategies For 2027

The Labour Party has reaffirmed its National Officers elected at the party’s 2024 National Convention held in Nnewi, Anambra State, in March 2024.

At its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, the party also approved the filling of vacant positions within the National Working Committee (NWC).

Addressing party leaders, the National Chairman, Barr. Julius Abure, referenced the Supreme Court judgment which affirms the authority of the party’s leadership to resolve internal disputes. He expressed regret over the leadership tussle that engulfed the party after the 2023 general elections and commended INEC for its courage in standing by the truth.

Abure further stated that the resolution of the crisis demonstrated that no individual is greater than the party.

Earlier in his remarks, the Labour Party’s 2023 vice-presidential candidate, Yusuf Baba-Ahmed, called for genuine reconciliation aimed at repositioning the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The NEC meeting, which was attended by state chairmen and other top party officials, was monitored by representatives of INEC.
