Kogi Reaffirms Support For Armed Forces, Fallen Heroes At 2026 Remembrance Day.

The Kogi State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting members of the Nigerian Armed Forces, veterans and families of fallen heroes, as the state joined the rest of the country to commemorate the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day.

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo gave the assurance on Thursday during a remembrance ceremony held in Lokoja, describing the occasion as a solemn reminder of the immense sacrifices made by men and women who paid the ultimate price in defence of Nigeria’s peace, unity and territorial integrity.

Represented by the Deputy Governor, Comrade Joel Salifu, the governor said the Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day goes beyond a ceremonial event, describing it as a sacred moment to honour soldiers who left the comfort of their homes and embraced uncertainty in service to the nation.

He assured families of fallen heroes of the state government’s continued support, stressing that their sacrifices would never be forgotten.

Governor Ododo also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, for his leadership and commitment to strengthening national security.

He further praised the Chief of Army Staff and other service chiefs for their strategic efforts in tackling insecurity and safeguarding lives and property across the country.
