Justice Omotosho Sentences IPOB Leader Nnamdi Kanu To Life Imprisonment For Terrorism

Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to life imprisonment.

The judgment was handed down on Thursday in Kanu’s absence after the IPOB leader insisted the court would not deliver judgment on the terrorism charges brought against him by the Federal Government. Amid the tension, Justice Omotosho ordered security agents to remove Kanu from the courtroom, citing his “unruly behaviour.”

Kanu was facing seven counts related to terrorism. In his ruling, Justice Omotosho held that the majority of Kanu’s broadcasts on Radio Biafra constituted acts of terrorism. The judge said Kanu’s rhetoric and stated intention were “anchored on violence.”

Details shortly.
