JAMB Vows To Tackle Exam Malpractice, Uncovers Over 4,000 Cases of Finger Blending.

The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, has reaffirmed the board’s commitment to safeguarding the integrity of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) through bold and far-reaching reforms.

Prof. Oloyede made this known while receiving the report of the Special Committee on Examination Infractions at the Board’s headquarters in Bwari, Abuja.

Commending the committee for its meticulous work and dedication to the terms of reference, the JAMB boss assured that all actionable recommendations within the board’s jurisdiction would be fully implemented.


Highlighting the troubling role of some parents in facilitating malpractice, Prof. Oloyede who revealed that over 80 percent of examination misconduct cases were linked to parental involvement, expressed optimism that the committee’s findings would help reshape public perception and encourage greater integrity in the examination process.


Presenting the report, Chairman of the committee, Mr. Jake Ekpelle, disclosed that the panel had uncovered 4,251 cases of “finger blending” and 192 instances of AI-assisted impersonation via image morphing during its investigation of the 2025 UTME.

The committee recommended a series of strong measures, including,Cancellation of fraudulent results,
Imposing bans ranging from one to three years among others.

The Special Committee was inaugurated on August 18, 2025, with a mandate to investigate rising examination infractions, review JAMB’s systems, and propose reforms to strengthen exam integrity.
