Insurgency : Ndume Advocates Upward Review Of Army Budget.

As part of effort to enable the Nigerian Army purchase more weapons to deal with the challenges of insecurity in Nigeria, the Senate has called for larger capital projects allocations in its 2021 budget. The Chairman Senate Committee on Army, Senator Ali Ndume gave the indication at the Army’s 2021 Budget defense session in Abuja. Stating that the N27 billion naira allocated to the Army for capital projects was too small,Ndume said an upward review will further assist the army in the discharge of its statutory responsibilities. The Senator who represents Borno South, one of the epicenters of Boko Haram Insurgency however expressed worry over the federal government reintegration policy of ex Boko Haram fighters. The Army was represented by Lt. Gen. Lamidi Adeosun, in the Budget defense session.
