INEC Must Redeem Self With Bayelsa, Kogi & Imo Polls – Yiaga Africa.

Barely few hours to the off cycle elections in Bayelsa, Imo and Kogi states, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been advised to urgently correct operational anomaly experienced in previous polls.

The Executive Director, Yiaga Africa, Samson Itodo who disclosed this at a news conference said the commission must ensure early deployment of election materials to all polling units as well as address any rising challenges in order to inspire citizens’ confidence in the electoral process.

Represented, the Yiaga Africa Executive Director however, noted that the commitment of key stakeholders in restoring the confidence of the electorates in the conduct of the off cycle elections will be tested after a contentious and controversial 2023 general elections.

The group further called on the Inter Agency Consultative Committee on Elections Security to ensure that all the security personnels deployed for the polls comply with the election security code of conduct and ensure safety of the polls.

Yiaga Africa also disclosed that over 650 duly trained and accredited stationary and roving observers were deployed to observe the Governorship Elections across the three states to ensure timely and accurate information on the elections.
