INEC Commends Nigerians For Embracing Voter Registration Exercise

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commended Nigerians for their enthusiastic participation in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

The online pre-registration phase began on August 18, while in-person registration at INEC state and local government offices across the country commenced on August 25, 2025.

Acting INEC Chairman, Mrs. May Agbamuche-Mbu, made this known during the Commission’s regular quarterly meeting with Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) held at INEC headquarters in Abuja.

According to Mrs. Agbamuche-Mbu, the positive response by Nigerians reflects the growing confidence in the nation’s democratic process.


The Acting Chairman who also updated the CSOs on the Commission’s preparations for the upcoming Anambra Governorship election and other elections nationwide, reiterated INEC’s commitment to strengthening democracy through an inclusive and credible electoral process.


In his remarks on behalf of the CSOs, Executive Director of the Peering Advocacy and Advancement Centre in Africa, Ezenwa Nwagwu, congratulated Mrs. Agbamuche-Mbu on her appointment and advocated for the adoption of innovative strategies for the Anambra election.

The CSOs also emphasized the need for accountability among electoral managers, stressing that those found guilty of undermining the electoral process must be held responsible.
