The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, says it is ready for the conduct of saturdays Governorship election in State.
This is as the state office of the commission confirmed that all Registration Area Centers have been activated for the onward deployment of sensitive materials Head of the Department of Voter Education and Publicity Imo State INEC, Mrs Emanuella Ben-Opara, gave the indication at an interactive session with journalists in Abuja.
She confirmed that the state office has deployed measures to check incidents of late arrival of election materials that played out in the 2023 general elections. Mrs Ben-Opara also spoke on the ongoing strike by the organised labour in the south East state, hinting that it would not affect the smooth conduct of the polls.
She called on residents of the state to come out enmasse to exercise their franchise, saying the commission alongside the various security agencies are determined to ensure a violent free poll.
As at the time of filing this report, security operatives were seen patrolling the streets of Owerri metropolis,an indication many believe is to boost the confidence of the over 2 million voters to be part of Saturdays Governorship election.
