HIV/AIDS: Young Persons,Others Account For 91 Percent New Cases- NACA

The National Agency for the Control of Aids NACA has raised concerns over the alarming new trend of HIV infections in Nigeria. This is as the agency says it’s 2021 Mode of Transmission (MOT)Study suggests that about 91 percent of all new infections occur among four categories of the adult population. NACA Director General, Aliyu Gambo who made the disclosure in Abuja said the agency is working alongside it’s partners to close the gaps identified in the study Earlier,the Chief Program Officer in charge of Research, NACA, Tosin Adebayo in his presentation gave a further breakdown of the findings in the MOT study and it’s implications if not addressed. On the way forward, the agency indicated plans to commence house to house test as well as enlightenment campaigns aimed at reducing new infections and transmission of HIV/Aids across the country.
