Group Faults Campaigns Against NMDPRA CEO,Threatens To Name And Shame Sponsors.

A coalition of civil society organizations has condemned a series of campaigns targeting the Managing Director of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Engr. Farouk Ahmed.

They stated that the allegations, which include financial impropriety and claims of foreign sponsorship of his children’s education as unverified and politically motivated.

Speaking at a news conference in Abuja, NYCN National Vice President Akoshile Mukhtar denounced the unfounded accusations and coordinated attempts to discredit public officials under the guise of civil society activism.

They warned Nigerian youths to resist being manipulated by unscrupulous individuals pursuing selfish agendas and revealed plans to expose and shame those behind the smear campaign.

The group commended the NMDPRA leadership for initiating reforms that have contributed to stabilizing the downstream petroleum sector.

They further condemned efforts to undermine regulatory institutions through street protests and blackmail, urging the National Assembly to pursue accountability strictly within the framework of due process and based on evidence.
