Group Demands Arrest Of NNPCL Boss, Bayo Ojulari Over Alleged $21m Scandal.

A coalition of civil society groups, including OilWatch Nigeria, Workers’ Right Alliance, and Concerned Citizens, staged a protest at the headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja, calling for the arrest and prosecution of the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL), Bayo Ojulari.

Leading the protest, the coalition’s convener, Emmanuel Ekpeyong, alleged that Ojulari is at the center of a $21 million scandal, which he claimed is linked to the ongoing detention of Abdullahi Bashir by the EFCC.

The group further accused the NNPCL boss of being involved in a ₦34.65 billion corruption case and urged the EFCC to take immediate action.

The Coalition announced plans to embark on a three-day peaceful protest beginning August 1, 2025, to press home their demands and send what they described as a clear message to those in authority to act.

The EFCC has not yet issued an official response to the protest or the allegations raised by the group.
