The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has ordered a comprehensive investigation into a fatal lone-vehicle crash that claimed seven lives on the Keffi–Abuja Highway on Friday.The directive follows a volatile aftermath at the scene in Angwan Jarmi, where an aggrieved mob, including commercial motorcyclists, reportedly attacked the FRSC Keffi Unit Command.Fatal Collision and Public UnrestPreliminary reports suggests the crash occurred when a driver, allegedly traveling at excessive speed, lost control of the vehicle and veered into the opposite lane. FRSC rescue teams dispatched to the site were met with “heightened tension” from bystanders.The situation escalated into a mob action against the local command, requiring swift intervention from the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Army to restore order and protect personnel and property.Commitment to TransparencyWhile initial findings point to speeding as the primary cause, Corps Marshal Mohammed emphasized that the investigation will be exhaustive, specifically addressing public allegations regarding patrol-related factors.”The Corps will not be hasty in apportioning blame nor dismissive of public concerns,” the statement read. “Any personnel found to have acted outside established operational standards will be held accountable.”Call for CalmIn a statement signed by Assistant Corps Marshal Olusegun Ogungbemide, the FRSC expressed deep condolences to the families of the victims.
