A fire outbreak on Monday morning affected a section of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation at the Federal Secretariat complex in Abuja, causing panic among workers and visitors.
The fire was first noticed at about 8:20 a.m., prompting staff members in the building to quickly evacuate the area as a precautionary measure.
Officials of the Federal Fire Service who were deployed to the scene immediately began efforts to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to other parts of the complex.
Authorities at the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation confirmed that the fire was limited to Section C of the building and that emergency responders were able to bring the situation under control.
Although the cause of the fire has not yet been determined, the flames have since been extinguished.
Speaking with CNA News crew, the Head of Operations at the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Zakare Abubakar, said the agency swiftly mobilised the Federal Fire Service to the scene after receiving notification of the incident.
