FG Set To Reform Armed Forces Healthcare Service

The Federal Government has approved the reformation process of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Nigeria, particularly in the area of Providing medical services for both serving and retired personnel. The Minister of Defence, Maj.Gen Bashir Magashi who disclosed this at the Defence Health Maintenance Limited 10th Stakeholders meeting with Military health providers in Abuja said the Ministry through the Defence Health Maintenance Limited will provide Personnel with adequate to perform their statutory responsibilities. Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Ibrahim Kana, Gen Magashi said the reform will bring forth a massive expansion of the Armed Forces as well as reposition it’s Medical Corp to rise to the occasion of providing services for both war and peace situations. The Managing Director, Defence Health Maintenance Limited, Rear Admiral Azeez Afolayan (rtd) on his part said the meeting was convened to enable stakeholders and Medical Personnel to review past activities, identify challenges and proffer relevant solutions for better performance. The theme of the one day meeting is “Towards a dynamic Health Insurance in the Armed Forces of Nigeria”.
