The 2023 Nigeria Demographic and Health Survey NDHS has been flagged off with indications that data generated from the survey will illuminate the disparities in the Nations healthcare access and utilization.
Coordinating minister of health and social welfare, Professor Muhammad Pate who performed the ceremony in Abuja said the 8th edition of the NDHS represents a profound step to understanding the health landscape as well as the baseline against which performances will be evaluated.
Represented by the permanent secretary in the ministry of health, Daju Kachollom, the minister said the implementation of the survey wil complement efforts towards actualizing the health system goals.
On his part, the Chairman, National Population Commission, Hon Isa Kwarra, represented by the federal commissioner representing Akwa Ibom state, Engr Benedict Ukpong said the NDHS,which has been spearheaded by the Commission for 3 decades is critical to providing invaluable insights with proofs of informed evidence-based policies as well as enhanced public health interventions in the country.
The ceremony was attended by key stakeholders in the health sector including international development partners.
