The Nigerian Export Promotion Council, has again assured Port Operators under the umbrella of the Domestic Export Warehouse DEW of government’s commitment to fast track movement of goods at the ports.
The NEPC Executive Director, Ezra Yakusak gave the assurance when a delegation of DEW Operators paid him a courtesy in Abuja.
He noted that Nigeria’s inability to convert its enormous comparative advantage in production of agricultural produce is constrained by supply chain which include storage and logistics among others.
The NEPC boss explained that DEW, a critical factor in meeting export orders is very important in ensuring timely delivering of exportable products to buyers and importers.
He also pointed out that DEW has been incorporated into the National Action Plan, NAP 7.0. to end multiple cargo examination, encourage priority and free movement of designated export container laden trucks.
Leader of the delegation, Tajudeen Bissimillahi and some members of the team also shared their views on the importance of the DEW concept.
NEPC received over 300 applications from prospective DEW operators, thorough screening of the applicants was done and series of inspection visits was made to about 20 prospective DEW operators by the DEW Technical Committee to ascertain their readiness and capacity based on agreed checklist.
